Saturday in the body shop
I served aboard USS Wasp with a guy from Africa who spent all of his off-duty time in the ship’s gym. He called it “the body shop.” He’d greet everyone else who worked out by saying, “Welcome to the Body Shop,” or, “Spending time in the Body Shop. Yes, yes.”
Twice a week, I convert my kitchen into a home gym with an exercise mat and an adjustable weight chair. I do 10 minutes of upper body, 10 minutes of abs/core and 10 minutes of various glutes/legs exercises. I’ve been adding an extra 10 minutes of Barre workouts that I find on YouTube to increase leg muscle strength while also highlighting movement rather than static lifting.
This morning, I got kind of a late start, so I ditched the barre. It’s a new thing, anyway, and am slowly working it into my routine while also recovering from a hip injury.
This morning, I got in the 10 minutes of slow balance yoga I subbed out yesterday. Just like yesterday’s 10-YouTube hit perfect, the slow balance hit perfect today.
